A Learning Journey from the Rockies to Canada
We often hear that “You can either travel or read, but either your body or soul must be on the way.” But students in Grade 5 at Dongshahu School of SIP proved that “Body and mind can be on the road at the same time!”
On March 21, with the blessings of their classmates and parents, four DSH students started the journey with their teachers. The students arrived in Calgary after more than 10 hours of flight from Shanghai Pudong Airport. Although the journey was long, the students did not feel tired, and they were very energetic and excited instead. With extreme expectations and delight, the students set foot on the Canadian land.
Although they would miss their parents and home, the students always adhered to the school’s education philosophy — “grace and wisdom” to the fullest. Their courage to travel for dreams and indomitable perseverance reflect the precious quality!
When it comes to the journey to Canada, the children’s memories suddenly came up:
The camping at the foot of the Rockies was full of wonder and admiration.
Our students camped in the Rockies and experienced a different life. The Rockies are so beautiful that the camera can’t capture them. The children went boating, swimming, sitting around a campfire, counting stars, barbecuing and to their surprise, seeing a bluebird’s egg for the first time.
The Fantastic Rockies have diverse terrain, beautiful scenery, virgin forests, snow-capped mountains, glaciers, lakes and waterfalls. These natural environments also harbor a variety of rare species of plants and animals. The glacial meltwater supplies the stunning Lake St. Louis with breathtaking views. Reflecting light from the boulders floating in the water also makes the lake look like emeralds.
The students were full of excitement, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. The sky is exceptionally blue, clear and transparent. Through the window you can even feel how fresh the air is. Along the way, there is the green grass and other sceneries as quiet as dreams. The children were impressed with nostalgia for the peaceful land and life.
During these 60 days, students appreciated the history, culture and natural beauty of Canada. For the children, this is not only a learning trip, but also a opportunity to enrich the soul.
